3 local Veterans Honoured and
one is our very own Bill Beswetherick
Bill Beswetherick along with Al Lloyd and Terrence Murphy were given the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation in Ottawa recently.

(article from the Kingston Whig Standard recently (Dec. 2010) wrote some of the following):

Along with being a veteran himself, Bill Beswetherick is the author with Geraldine Chase being the co-author of "Gananoque Remembers", a book honouring the 83 men from the town of Gananoque, who died during the two world wars. (picture of this book above)

He also helped organized the 57th annual Goodwill Day; arranging for the Victoria Cross, of the town's Pte Harry Brown who died shortly after delivering an urgent message during the First World War, to be displayed.

Bill also gathered one of the most comprehensive collections of military artifacts for the event.  Bill is one of the most active members of our Branch and you can catch him there working very hard almost every day....just ask his wife....:-)

He is currently the secretary and public relations officer for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92 in Gananoque, Ontario and is working on a second military history book.

Copies of Gananoque Remembers can be purchased through your local Legion, where applicable, or Call Bill at the branch.  Their second book has not been published as yet but it is in the "making"

At the ceremony, each of the 3 Veterans received a certificate, a lapel pin and a bar to wear with decorations.  The design consists of a gold maple leaf on a red poppy surmounted by the Royal Crown.

Al Lloyd and Terrence Murphy both live in Kingston and Bill is in Seeley's Bay ON.
CONGRATULATIONS BILL!!
ON YOUR WELL DESERVED HONOUR!
